Paris Aéroport has made the reduction of its carbon footprint one of the pillars of its environmental policy. 

We are aiming to reduce our CO2 emissions per passenger by 65% between 2009 and 2020

More ambitious than the 2008 European Climate and Energy package and Grenelle Acts 1 and 2, Paris Aéroport has undertaken to reduce its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 25 % between 2009 and 2015, with the same high quality of service and taking into account growth in airport capacity. 
To accomplish this, Paris Aéroport is reducing its consumption and lowering the proportion of carbon energy in its energy mix.


Influencing consumption patterns

To reduce direct emissions,

Paris Aéroport acts on the three primary sources of emissions: thermal power plants, electricity consumption and service vehicles. To do so, Paris Aéroport has put in place a certain number of measures which are bearing fruit:
1. Development of renewable energy (biomass, geothermal, solar panels)) 
2. Renovation and construction of low-energy buildings
3. Gradual replacement of service vehicles with electric vehicles

To reduce indirect emissions,

Paris Aéroport is actively working with its partners to:
1. Reduce aircraft taxiing time
2. Supply electricity and air-conditioning or heating to the aircraft once on the ground 
3. Develop green, eco-friendly modes of transport

Responsible for only 4% of the total CO2 emissions on its platforms, Paris Aéroport continues to reduce its own carbon footprint.

All these efforts have been rewarded - Aéroports de Paris has a Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation for the three platforms of Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly airports and Paris-Le Bourget.
