Shchukin, the eye of Moscow

Former director of the Musée Picasso re-creates Sergueï Shchukin private collection who founded the world's first museum of modern art in Moscow, assembling paintings of Monet, Matisse, Cézanne, Degas, Gauguin, etc.

The museum was broken up by Lenin, and finally cclosed by Stalin who called its content "degenerate" art. A great exhibition featuring some 130 paintings and sculptures.
