A collaboration celebrating the year of the dog
To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Longchamp has teamed up with Tao Liang, aka Mr. Bags, one of China’s most influential fashion bloggers with three million followers on social media.
Turning his personal passion for bags into a social media phenomenon, Mr. Bags shares his encyclopaedic knowledge of luxury handbags with his legions of “bagfans” via his blogs on Weibo and WeChat. He has a special affection for Longchamp, and particularly Le Pliage® Cuir line, in which is his own bag of choice for travelling the world and hitting the streets.
So, when Longchamp Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine offered him creative carte blanche, there was only one place to start…
A limited edition
Mr. Bags reinterpreted Longchamp’s iconic foldable bag in luxurious lamb leather, giving it a slightly more structured feel, and – because 2018 is the Year of the Dog – added a playful signature in the form of a pair of paw prints.
The medium-sized tote is available in graphic black with the prints outlined in white, and in two more feminine shades – pastel pink and powder blue – with the prints in white fur. It also exists in a cute clutch format, which can be attached to the outside of the bag like a charm or carried separately. Its zipper and two handles make it perfect for taking out to lunch or dinner, with just enough space for keys, a card and a smartphone.
Because Mr. Bags is constantly on the move, a travel bag was clearly a must. For his chic version in black lamb leather, he drew on his personal experience to add an essential practical feature: a zippered pocket integrated in the back of the bag to hold a phone and travel documents – no more panicking at passport control!
The Mr. Bags for Longchamp limited edition will be launched in early January 2018 via WeChat and key Longchamp stores in China, as well as selected flagships in Asia and Europe. “Bagfans”, put it on your wish list now!
