Dépôt légal: for epicurean pastry
A fresh wind is blowing through Parisian patisseries. The old classics are now giving way to surprising, innovative creations. These unique spots respond to the new expectations of foodies looking for healthy pastries that are both adventurous and tasty. Paris Worldwide has drawn up an overview of the patisseries that are revolutionising our culinary landscape for you. One stop on our tour: the pastry shop of Christophe Adam, to discover his new culinary gamble.
Just like Mum's
After L'Eclair de génie, Christophe Adam opened Dépôt Légal, a large hybrid café, which combines the ambiances of a tearoom, cafeteria, cocktail bar, and high-end grocery. This new all-day location offers home-made treats with fresh, seasonal products. A beautiful ode to culinary simplicity and the primacy of ingredients.
Made with Love
To read in Paris Worldwide
Here, dishes are cooked with a smile and in front of the customer, since the large kitchen counter where the plates are prepped opens out onto the room. The chef extols the virtues of component cooking when it comes to the lunch menu. The ingredients' natural flavours are largely left untouched by the chef, who uses them in salads or in hearty gourmet sandwiches. Two favourites for teatime: the praline vanilla millefeuille or the "illegal" cake, a gluten-free almond delicacy you can share with abandon!
Still a little hungry? Paris Worldwide has two other delightful sweet spots for you. Maison d'Aleph, in the heart of the Marais, does Lebanese tradition the "light" way, mixing it with top quality regional products. The "1001 feuilles" is fit for royalty! Looking for something healthier? Head to Les Belles Envies, a patisserie with a wide range of low-GI delicacies.
