Travel formalities : documents
Depending on your destination, you may require one or several documents. Without them, you may be refused boarding or entry at your destination. To avoid this inconvenience, check which documents are required when booking your ticket.
At all times, airlines must verify your identity when boarding. Keep identification with you.
You only need valid identity papers for:
- travel within the European Union and Switzerland;
- tourist travel to Tunisia (Only a trip organized) and Turkey.
An unexpired passport is required for other destinations (India, Japan).
For the following countries, your passport must be valid at least between three and sixt months after entering or leaving the country: Brazil, China, Egypt, Mauritius, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines, Senegal, Thailand and Vietnam.
Foreign minor resident in France
To travel, foreign minors resident in France must have an unexpired travel document (such as a passport). In addition, they may obtain a travel document for foreign minors to facilitate travel outside the French territory.Warning!
Since January 15, 2017, the authorization to leave the French territory is active again.
This document allows them to benefit from a visa waiver on returning to France or when entering the external borders of the Schengen Area.
When coming back, these papers will allow to:
- re-enter the country or the outside borders of the Schengen area;
- prove the child is entitled to stay in France.*Note: in any case, please find out from your airline the specific requirements to complete before your trip and the documents you may be asked for on checking in.
Connecting passengers who do not have their boarding pass when they arrive at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport can obtain it on arrival:
- by asking at the relevant airline desk
- by using the terminals available to access airline check-in websites, which are indicated by the sign opposite
Nonetheless, even if your airline offers this service, we recommend that you print out the boarding pass for your connecting flight before travelling.
Some countries require a visa in addition to your passport. Inquire from your travel agent, airline or the consulate of the destination country.
Travel to tropical areas requires preparation: it is essential for your health! To travel safely, inquire as early as possible about the health risks at your destination. This is also a good opportunity to check that your vaccinations are up to date.
